Anti-Reflective Coatings. AR coatings were first developed in the 1930’s. Even though they dramatically improved the efficiency of light transmittance through a lens, these coatings were only used on optical instruments such as cameras and microscopes because they were too fragile to be reliable on everyday items such as glasses. The new AR coatings are so tough you can’t scratch it with steel wool. Now everyone can enjoy the benefits of durable AR coated lenses. AR coatings improve your vision by removing unwanted glare and reflections. This is especially beneficial in night driving.

High-Index Super Thin Lenses: New materials allow us to fabricate lenses thinner and lighter than ever before. The newest of these have improved optical qualities and yield a larger usable lens area than previous generations.  Combined with an AR coating even high prescriptions look fantastic.

Progressive  Lenses: New digital designs of these “invisible” bifocals are easier to adapt to and provide clear natural vision in all directions and at all distances.  Our office uses only the highest quality progressives available to provide optimum vision performance.

Computer Lenses: Computer lenses unlike a typical progressive are maximized for intermediate vision – primarily computer/monitor distance. The lens is designed so you can comfortably view a monitor without having to tip your head back as you may do with a standard progressive. If you spend  over two hours at a time on the computer, this lens will probably pay for itself in one year in savings on chiropractor visits.  The reading zone in this lens is significantly larger than in a standard progressive, and many of my patients also use it as reading glasses.  This is also a great lens for artists that work with their media at arms length. For this reason it also works well for musicians, allowing them to see the music on their stand clearly, while being able to take direction from the conductor. Mechanics who struggle to get their reading zone high enough when they are working on a vehicle overhead also appreciate this design.

Polarized Lenses: These are the ultimate in sunglass lens design. Polarized lenses not only reduce light transmission, they also reduce glare. Only polarized lenses can eliminate unwanted glare and also provide 100% protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Transitions Lenses: The latest advance in “variable” tint lenses is Transitions Vantage Lenses. All photochromic lenses react to UV light from the sun. In high UV light (outside) they darken; in low UV light (inside) they lighten. Transitions Vantage lenses don’t just adapt to changing light – they also polarize as they darken. Outdoors the polarization adjusts to match the level of outdoor glare. They are the ideal choice for the active individual, providing the versatility of having 2 pairs of glasses in one! Transitions lenses block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
